THE MOMENT THAT CHANGED THE MISSION Beyond The Classroom Gate
In 2022, Matt began taking students to Kenya on social impact trips. That was when he noticed the next barrier. The children who could not afford a uniform often could not afford a school meal either. A uniform could help a child get through the gate. Hunger could still stop them from learning once they were inside.
In 2023, Matt travelled to Costa Rica to study farming. The next idea came quickly. What if KAPES could work with schools, use unused land, and grow food for the students who needed it most? A year later, that vision became real. The first harvest produced four tonnes of onions, which will be exchanged for roughly fourteen thousand meals. The tractor had become part of the mission. THE NEXT CHAPTER From Soil To School Meals
The Porsche has been traded, quite literally, for a tractor. What gives Matt’s story its weight is not just the scale of the work. It is the honesty of the journey.
