RIT DUBAI PROFESSOR LAUNCHES NEW TEXTBOOK SUPPORTING THE UAE’S CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE As countries worldwide accelerate their transition towards cleaner and smarter energy systems, the UAE continues to place sustainable power and technological innovation at the centre of its national agenda. Reflecting this momentum, Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai has announced the release of a major new academic textbook offering practical guidance on how renewable energy can be successfully integrated into modern power grids.
A uthored by Professor of Electrical Engineering Dr Abdalla Ismail Alzarooni in collaboration with Dr Haris M. Khalid from the University of Dubai, Advanced Grid Technologies Grid Evolution, Smart Grid Fundamentals, and Renewable Energy Integration Volume 1, published by Elsevier, provides engineers and decision makers with tools to navigate The book explores critical emerging topics shaping the future of energy, including energy storage systems, electric vehicles, vehicle to grid technologies and intelligent substations. Balancing electricity supply and demand, maintaining grid stability and managing the vast quantities of data generated by modern networks remain some of the sector’s biggest challenges. The text provides practical frameworks to help engineers understand how renewable energy sources can be the evolving energy landscape. Tackling the Complexities of Modern Energy Systems incorporated without compromising reliability. At the same time, the publication introduces young engineers to the real operational complexities behind delivering reliable electricity every day, bridging academic learning with practical industry application.
The future grid must balance renewable energy growth with reliability and resilience.
Academic Collaboration Supporting National Priorities The publication also highlights growing collaboration between Dubai based universities working to support national sustainability ambitions. Faculty expertise from both institutions contributes to a resource aligned with the UAE Green Agenda 2030 and the We The UAE 2031 Vision, both of which prioritise innovation, renewable energy adoption and sustainable infrastructure. Speaking about the purpose behind the textbook, Dr Alzarooni explains that education and research must directly address real world needs. “At RIT Dubai, we focus on education and research that directly contribute to national priorities and support our strong industry partnerships.
