160 Excellence in Schools
H eld on 2 February, the event brought together students, educators and invited guests, including Aisha Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, to demonstrate how the Award develops practical life skills alongside academic achievement. The Duke of Edinburgh Award builds skills that go far beyond the classroom.
Students Showcase Expedition Skills in Action The showcase centred on the Award’s Adventurous Journey component, where participants plan, train for and complete expeditions that test resilience, teamwork and practical problem solving. Visitors moved through interactive stations where students demonstrated essential expedition skills including navigation, first aid, campcraft, cooking and equipment preparation. The experience offered a hands on look at how students prepare for Bronze, Silver and Gold Award journeys.
The visit formed part of a wider series of activities across the UAE celebrating the Award’s contribution to youth development and leadership.
