Education UAE: DBS Mira aims to be a beacon of excellence in education. What steps will you take to ensure that excellence is embedded in both academic performance and the holistic development of students? Amy: Our guiding philosophy across the DBS Schools is Enjoy, Aspire, Achieve: the word ‘enjoy’ is first for a reason as we understand that children must be happy at school first in order to succeed. We have created a DBS Teaching and Learning Identity to give teachers a guiding structure of best practice for their lessons whilst allowing room for creativity and flexibility in the planning and delivery process. Our parent-partnerships will be crucial to ensure children are surrounding by the
support they need and that parents feel fully informed of their children progress and how they can help at home. Finally, we will work with our sister schools across the group to make sure our standards align and that we are delivering the same level of excellence that all children deserve. Education UAE: How does your leadership style reflect these values, and how have they shaped your approach to education in both the UK and UAE? Amy: I have a very authentic leadership style and believe in the power of transparency. I hold myself to account (and ask others to do the same!) through decision making and actions, to ensure everything we do is rooted in our values and in the best interests of the community. I believe it is important to listen
“Becoming a hub for the Mira community is really important to us.”
