back to School Guide 145
The Emotional Shift from Summer to School The shift from relaxed summer days to early mornings, structured learning, and packed timetables is no small thing. For some children, the return brings excitement, a sense of purpose, and a fresh start. For others, it can feel overwhelming. The long summer break often softens routines and removes daily pressures, so getting back into the swing of things can bring big emotions. It’s not uncommon to see tiredness, nerves, or even resistance during the first few weeks back.
Navigating Change in a Global City Some children may be facing additional changes this year, starting at a new school, moving into a different section such as secondary, or even adjusting to the absence of a close friend who has relocated. Living in a vibrant international hub like Dubai means that many children experience friendship changes or staff changes more frequently than in other parts of the world. It’s all part of growing up in a global city, but these changes need to be acknowledged and supported to help children settle with confidence.
