128 Excellence in Schools
T he Here are six practical ways North Gate British School actively supports wellbeing across our community: 1. Staff: Protected Time for CPD and Wellbeing We prioritise staff development and wellbeing by building protected time into the weekly timetable for continuous professional development, collaboration, and personal reflection. This not only improves teaching and learning, but also sends a clear message: our staff are valued, and their growth and balance matter. 2. Parents: Open-Door Policy and Clear Communication Our open-door policy ensures parents feel welcomed and heard. Regular newsletters, accessible leadership, and opportunities to meet in person create a transparent and trusting environment. We believe strong communication builds strong partnerships and those partnerships are key to a healthy school community. 3. Children: A Varied and Active Curriculum Our curriculum is designed to be dynamic, inclusive, and engaging, supporting the whole child. We offer regular movement-based learning, outdoor education, and cross-curricular opportunities that allow children to feel energised, inspired, and seen in their learning journey.
4. Extra-Curricular Growth: Opportunities Beyond the Classroom We offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, leadership opportunities, and enrichment experiences that allow children to discover new interests, develop confidence, and feel proud of their contributions. These experiences build resilience, friendships, and have a positive impact on student wellbeing. 5. Whole School Culture: A Community that Lifts Each Other Up At the core of our school is a culture of kindness, respect, and collective care. Whether it’s staff supporting each other, children looking out for their friends, or leaders modelling empathy and integrity, we work hard to ensure North Gate British School is a place where everyone belongs and where wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility. 6. Passion for Nature Plants, the natural world, farming and environmental studies are critically important to us at NGBS, from our rich and varied gardens to our greenhouse and farm, we know having a link to nature supports our wellbeing.
