106 Excellence in Schools
W e integrate wellbeing into the learning experience rather than an additional initiative. From mindfulness sessions to structured emotional development programmes, pupils engage in activities that help them manage stress, develop self-awareness, and build meaningful relationships. The Zones of Regulation curriculum, introduced in our Pre-Prep School, is a key component of this approach. It teaches pupils to recognize and regulate their emotions, fostering a positive mindset and the foundation of education, making it an essential part of encouraging thoughtful interactions. The results have been transformative.
Young learners now demonstrate heightened emotional intelligence, leading to smoother transitions into Prep school and a more engaged learning environment. Beyond emotional wellbeing, we emphasise personal growth and leadership. Pupils actively shape their school environment through initiatives such as the Pupil Council, Play Leaders, Digital Leaders, and Eco Warriors. These roles are designed to instil a sense of responsibility and teamwork. Leadership opportunities help pupils develop confidence and agency, reinforcing the idea that wellbeing is a collective effort.
